Seasoned litigator enhances strong Labor & Employment division

Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman P.L. announces the arrival of Porpoise Evans as Partner. Based in the firm’s Miami office, Evans is an experienced litigator who will work closely with Weiss Serota’s team of accomplished attorneys in the Labor & Employment division.

Evans was previously a Partner at Perlman, Bajandas, Yevoli & Albright, P.L. (PBY&A). In recent years, his practice has focused on employment litigation and compliance, including counseling and representing management in employment disputes such as wage and hour, discrimination, and contract claims, along with defending clients against alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Evans also designs and implements anti-corruption compliance programs for multinational companies subject to the FCPA, with an emphasis on leading such compliance initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa.

Before his time at PBY&A, Evans was a Shareholder in the Miami office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Evans has advised employers on furloughs and work-from-home policies, wrongful termination claims, compliance with the Families First Coronavirus Act, and related Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regulations.

Evans serves as Treasurer of Legal Services of Greater Miami. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, magna cum laude, graduating with Order of the Coif honors, and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.
