Miami managing partner receives honor for excellence in celebration of International Women’s Day

Foley & Lardner LLP is pleased to announce that Miami Managing Partner Leslie Smith has been honored for her contributions as a luminary within the field of law. Recognized for her work in guiding the firm’s only South Florida office and the positive economic impact made throughout the community and state, Smith was honored during the 2019 Whealth & Innovation reception alongside a select group of women leading their respective industries.

Taking place at the Fifth Avenue Club in Brickell City Centre’s Saks Fifth Avenue, the evening event celebrated the accomplishments and contributions women have made within their communities and across a variety of industries, including law, real estate, design and hospitality.

“I’m thrilled to be part of such an accomplished group who has done so much in raising the standard for success,” said Smith. “I look forward to continuing to mentor the newest generation of attorneys at Foley and to celebrate their successes with my peers.”

A nationally known trial lawyer and Chambers USA ranked in franchise law, Smith handles a variety of commercial litigation matters at both the trial and appellate levels in both federal and state courts. She also has an active franchising and distribution practice counseling clients from initial negotiations through resolution, including mediation, arbitration and trial.

Smith is a past president of the Dade County Bar Association, an active member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising, the International Franchise Association, the Women Presidents' Organization, and 100+ Women Who Care. She has also previously served on the Governing Committee for the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising.

Smith earned her law degree, with honors, from the University of Florida, and holds a Master of Arts from the London School of Economics. She earned her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University.
