Susan M. Newton has been named chief operating officer (COO) of Broward Health North. As COO, Newton will be responsible for ensuring the hospital has the proper operational controls, administrative reporting, procedures, and human capital in place.

With more than 25 years of experience in healthcare operations and financial management, Newton has served in several leadership positions within the Broward Health system, most recently at Broward Health Imperial Point, where she was the hospital’s chief financial officer (CFO) since 2005. She also held the director of finance position at Broward Health Medical Center for nine years and was assistant CFO at Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania.

“Susan has demonstrated a commitment to Broward Health and we look to her continued leadership at Broward Health North,” said Broward Health President/CEO Beverly Capasso. “She will be instrumental in Broward Health North’s delivery of quality care to our patients.”

Newton has an MBA from Nova Southeastern University and a bachelor’s degree from Knox College in Illinois, where she graduated cum laude. She is a member of Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), a Best Choice Plus board member at Broward Health, and president of Total Claims Administration, Inc. Newton is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Ft. Lauderdale/Cypress Creek.
