Rising Tide, a groundbreaking social enterprise which opened in April 2013, has a goal to provide people with autism with an opportunity to build a career and achieve an independent lifestyle.
Rising Tide has been selected to attend the acclaimed May 30–July 6, 2014 program in Boulder, Colo., which matches 13 carefully vetted ventures from across the globe with 50 mentors and more than 100 funders. Its goal is to help each of the ventures to scale up to meaningfully impact the lives of over 1 millionpeople each.
Rising Tide was chosen from over 240 applyingcompanies worldwide for this international opportunity. Rising Tide is the first autism-based, U.S. domestically focused social enterprise to be selected for the program. Unreasonable Institute Global is dedicated to tackling the world's biggest problems by giving an "unfair advantage" to entrepreneurs creating solutions to the world's biggest social and environmental problems.
"This is the first – and may potentially be the only – time that anyone can donate to Rising Tide Car Wash, because the money is going directly toward our tuition for Unreasonable Institute Global, a 501(c)(3) organization," said D'Eri. "This is the FIRST step in scaling our social enterprise, and bringing more awareness to the autism cause and community."
Donating to Rising Tide's Unreasonable Institute Global tuition also provides an opportunity for those outside of the Parkland/Boca Raton, Fla. area and nationwide to contribute to empowering young adults with autism.
As an Unreasonable Institute Global Fellow, D'Eri will receive a deep, customized curriculum tailored to help Rising Tide get the resources to overcome obstacles, build a stronger business, and go to scale. Unreasonable Institute Global arms its Fellows with the mentorship, capital, and lasting, robust, global support network to help them tackle any problem thrown at them.
"The institute will provide us with exceptional resources to allow Rising Tide to grow, and come closer to our vision of showing society, on a large scale, how capable people with autism are," said D'Eri.
With 30+ employees, Rising Tide is one of thelargest employers of people with autism in the U.S., and aims to be the premier car wash experience in the market. Through intensive training, team building and caring for the community, Rising Tide sets its employees up for success.
Rising Tide is the brainchild of entrepreneur John D'Eri and his son Thomas D'Eri, who created a supportive environment where John's son and Thomas' brother, 21-year-old Andrew D'Eri, a vibrant individual with autism, could thrive and achieve independence.
Currently, unemployment among people with autism is approximately 90 percent, and at least 500,000 more individuals with autism will enter the workforce in the next decade.
