Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman announced that Andrew “Drew” Demers has joined the firm as a partner. Demers will be resident in the Palm Beach Office, where he will focus on banking and commercial lending, commercial real estate and commercial litigation.

“We are pleased to have Drew join the team and provide his expertise in the areas of banking and commercial lending as well as a wide range of commercial litigation,” said Jamie Cole, Managing Director for the firm. “His experiences dovetails well with our current practice areas and we know his expertise will be valuable to our clients.”

Demers comes to the firm from Burr & Forman, where he maintained a robust practice in commercial litigation and real estate finance. He has represented national and regional financial institutions and private-equity clients in transactional and litigation matters. He routinely works with banks and private lending clients through all stages of the lending relationship, including the origination and documentation of new real estate and asset-based loans, purchase and sale of real property, transfer of negotiable instruments, loan participation issues, lender and buyer-side due diligence, and REO transactions.

Additionally, he has experience litigating matters involving commercial real estate, construction and leasing disputes, enforcing commercial loan documents and covenants. He also has experience assisting clients with regard to stabilizing distressed properties, receiverships, commercial property foreclosures and creditor's rights issues.

Demers earned his JD from the University of Michigan Law School and is admitted to both the Florida and Ohio Bars.
