Fort Myers, FL – December 5, 2017 – Investors Warranty of America, LLC sold a 4,000± acre property to Lee County for $42,435,000. This property, known widely as Edison Farms, is connected to existing state and county owned lands and will be utilized as a conservation site for the enjoyment of Lee County residents and visitors for years to come.

The site consists of 2,800± acres of undisturbed wetland habitat, hydric pasture, cabbage palm, and hydric pine flatwoods, which are deficient in Lee County. The remaining 1,200± acres consist of upland pods that have been identified as developable. Because of this purchase by Lee County, the uplands will remain in-tact and will not be developed into perpetuity, allowing the property to remain a critical habitat for endangered Florida wildlife, such as the Florida Panther and Wood Stork.

Edison Farms presents Lee County residents with further preservation of the Density Reduction/Groundwater Resource (DR/GR), passive recreational activities, and contiguous access to Hidden Cypress Preserve and CREW Flint Pen Strand.

Edison Farms is located within the Estero Bay Watershed and contains headwaters for three major tributaries to Estero Bay. It is contiguous to Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW) to the east.
