The Keyes Company Joins Hurricane Relief Efforts Through Associates Iniatiatives

Mike Pappas, President of The Keyes Company, makes it a goal of partnering up with his associates to support their philanthropic choices.

When Tony Garcia, District Sales Manager of the Keyes Homestead office created Keyes Cares For the Keys Service Day, he wholeheartedly joined the working crew of company volenteers to help the hardest hit by Hurricane Irma in The Florida Keys. Two busloads of associates with donations collected from their 35 offices, traveled to devastated Sugarloaf Key and Ramrod Key to clean and do whatever else was needed. They sawed trees, moved truckloads of debris, removed a roof off a dock, mended several fences, relocated disabled boats and vehicles, and distributed donations of baby formula, diapers, non-perishable foods, pet supplies, and more. “Their volunteers brought determination, and a can do attitude that overcame obstacles that were mountains to individual residents,” said Linda Vanaman, a volunteer organizer in The Keys.

“We really made a difference that day. It was such a rewarding experience that I will carry it with me for the rest of my life.” said Garcia. “Not only did we help our neighbors get one step closer to the ways things use to be, we also supported local businesses by purchasing all our lunches and snacks there. In addition, we wanted to give disaster victims an opportunity to go out to dinner for a hot meal, so we passed out Keyes Care voucher to redeem at The Square Grouper Bar & Grill.”

The Keyes Company has always supported their associates in charitable missions that range from back to school drives, helping the homeless, The Humane Society, Relay For life, and Habitat for Humanity, to name just a few of the over 50 charities they have worked with. “Keyes is grateful to have so many passionate associates dedicated to getting involved in so many worthwhile causes. It’s definitely an internal morale booster that joins us together as a family, and the feel-good rewards of seeing our contributions payoff in our communities are just immeasurable,” said Eli Santurio, Regional Manager for Keyes.
