U.S. Century Bank’s (USCB) Chairperson of the Board, Aida Levitan, Ph.D., will receive the prestigious Henri Dunant Award of the InterAmerican Institute for Democracy. Levitan will be recognized as a pioneering force for the inclusion of corporate social responsibility criteria in business decisions. The award will be presented at a 6 p.m. ceremony on October 26, at the Chapman Conference Center, Building 3, Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus, 226 NE 5 Street, Miami, FL.

“It is a great honor to be recognized, along with OAS Secretary Luis Almagro, by the InterAmerican Institute for Democracy, headed by Carlos Alberto Montaner. This organization has done significant work in fostering democracy and institutionalism in the Americas,” said Dr. Levitan.

Other award recipients included OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro; journalists Jorge Lanata and Manuel Aguilera; and the organization Fundamedios.

Levitan is president of The Levitan Group, Inc. which provides strategic branding and marketing consulting services to companies and organizations such as República and the Spanish Port of Bilbao. She is also the retired president of Publicis Sanchez & Levitan, which became the number one Hispanic advertising and PR agency in the U.S.

Her community and philanthropic activities include ArtesMiami, Inc., which promotes Hispanic artists and cultural activities, and chairing the University of Miami’s Cuban Heritage Collection Amigos Board. She also serves on the boards of the Miami Spanish Cultural Center, IMPAC, and the National Friends of the American Latino Museum. A former Vice Chair of the National Smithsonian Latino Center, she has a Ph.D. in Spanish literature from Emory University and a B.A. from the University of Miami.

Levitan was appointed to USCB’s board of directors in 2013 and became its chairman earlier this year.
