Litigation Attorney Mamie Joeveer, formerly with the law firm of Hogan Lovells in Miami, has joined the full service boutique law firm of AXS Law Group in Wynwood.

Mamie has a varied practiced focusing in commercial litigation, health law, criminal, and media and entertainment litigation. She began her career as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, where she was a public affairs officer who achieved the rank of Captain. She was engaged in high-level assignments at the Pentagon in Kenya, and at the United Nations Mission in Haiti. She transitioned from the Marines into journalism working as a national journalist and contributor for the Miami Herald, where she covered business and entertainment. Mamie also produced a national television show series for NBCUniversal in New York, and was a contributor to Forbes magazine. The media has taken note of the particular perspective she can offer, and she’s often asked to appear as military and legal analyst on MSNBC. She contributes to Diversity and The Bar Magazine, a publication produced by the National Minority Corporate Counsel Association.

Mamie’s switch to the law began as an assistant public defender in Broward County, Florida, where she gained significant jury and bench trial experience. She then practiced as an attorney in the Litigation, Arbitration and Employment Group at Hogan Lovells, a large global law firm. Mamie advised clients on many issues including Medicaid managed-care, contract disputes, and worked on trademark and corporate governance cases. She also uniquely supported the Litigation group's business development efforts as well.

Active in the community, Mamie is a strong supporter of the arts. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Miami City Ballet, a member of the Media and Communications Committee of The Florida Bar and a member of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL). She holds a J.D. from Florida International University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Memphis.
