Gulf Building Opens Office In Delray Beach To Support Growth In Palm Beach County

Gulf seeks moregovernment and private industry contracts

Gulf Building LLC has opened an office here to serve its clients in Palm Beach County. The 25-year oldcompany counts among its local customers the Department of Veterans Affairsin West Palm Beach, Boca West Country Club, and the country's fastest growing supermarket chain's expansion including one right here in Delray Beach.

“Last November, Palm Beach County voters understood the importance of investing in their long-neglected infrastructure, and over the next decade $2.7 billion of sales tax dollars will be re-invested into aging and lacking schools, bridges, parks, water plants and transportation systems,” said John Scherer, president and CEO, Gulf Building LLC. “Having a Palm Beach County office in addition to our local jobsite offices, will further ensure that Gulf delivers the same high quality of service we provide fromour Fort Lauderdale headquarters.”

Executive vice president Kevin Murphy and general counsel Jordana L. Jarjura will lead the office. Jarjura recently concluded service as Vice-Mayor of the City of Delray Beach.Jarjura advises the company on all legal matters and on its pursuit of government contracts. Additionally,she advisesGulf’s private sector clients on their entitlement goals.

Murphy oversees business development, owner and subcontractor negotiations, staff management and training, and construction on all federal contracts. He has created partnerships with some of the company’s biggest-named clients, including the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, the VA, Seminole Tribe of Florida, municipalities, and design teams and subcontractors.

Gulf’s Delray Beach office is in the historic Masonic Building in the Old School Square Historic District. Built in 1924, it housed the local post office from the late 1920s through the 1950s.

Gulf Building (in association with Hernandez Consulting) recently completed a Design-Build project of the VA MRI Clinic and Grounds shop at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach. Work was performed in an active and fully functional Medical Campus with zero impact on existing facilities and operations. In addition, the firms had serve as a Prime Contractor on several other Design-Build projects in the area, including but not limited to, the installation of the first Solar/ PV project implemented by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the design, demolition and installation of four new air handlers, heating and cooling system. Also in PBC, the firm was hired as the structure subcontractor to expand Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, with a 140,000 SF new two-story clubhouse building. And most recently, Gulf was hired by the fastest-growing supermarket chain in the country to remodel six grocery stores in South Florida, including one in Delray Beach and another in Palm Springs. The national grocer plans to invest $5 billion to modernize hundreds of stores and add 900 more over the next five years.
