Raymond James Names Egli as MD

6/6/17

Raymond James is adding capabilities to its Financial Services Investment Banking practice with the hiring of Steve Egli as managing director. Based in San Francisco, Egli will serve depository institutions primarily located in the Western United States. With more than 12 years of experience advising clients on M&A transactions and equity offerings, the addition of Egli strengthens the firm’s commitment to offer a range of services and expertise to depository institutions across the country.

“Since the election, we’ve seen a significant increase in M&A activity and equity issuances for banks,” said Jim Bunn, senior managing director and head of Investment Banking at Raymond James. “Steve’s experience will be valuable to clients who are looking to capitalize on these market conditions and an asset to the firm as we continue to grow our advisory and underwriting services in the financial sector.”

Egli joins Raymond James from Sandler O’Neill’s San Francisco office. A native of Utah, Egli obtained a bachelor’s in finance and economics from Utah State University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

“The service and capabilities that Raymond James offers clients paired with the extensive experience of its senior bankers is one of a kind,” said Egli. “It’s a pleasure to join this dedicated team of banking professionals who are committed to getting results for clients.”

Egli is the most recent in a series of new hires designed to continue the measured growth of Raymond James’ financial services sector coverage. The group provides strategic advisory and capital formation capabilities to financial institution clients and has seen significant expansion since June 2015 when four depository-focused bankers joined, led by Managing Director Robert Toma. Also joining then was Julian Bynum, a managing director who leads Fixed Income Capital Markets’ efforts in providing debt capital to the firm’s corporate clients, with an emphasis on financial institutions. In November 2015, Richard Durkes joined Financial Services Investment Banking as vice chairman and John Roddy was hired as co-head of Financial Services Investment Banking in September 2016.
