Associate Matthew Kissner Earns Prestigious AV Rating, Named 2017 Up & Comer Finalist

Matthew Kissner, an associate in the West Palm Beach office of statewide law firm Broad and Cassel, has earned an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell®, achieving the organization’s highest marks for both competency and ethics.

Martindale-Hubbell® is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings fall into two categories - legal ability and general ethical standards. The highest rating is AV Preeminent®, which is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the legal profession.

Kissner also was recently selected as a finalist for the 2017 Up & Comer Awards by South Florida Business & Wealth magazine. Considered a rising star in South Florida, Kissner will be honored at the magazine’s awards program on June 22. 

Candidates for the Up & Comer Awards are judged on their professional and community achievements, as well as demonstrated success in a leadership role. A judging committee comprised of distinguished community leaders, academic leaders and the South Florida Business & Wealth editorial board reviewed nominees and will select the final honorees.

A member of the firm’s Corporate and Securities and Intellectual Property Practice Groups, Kissner represents privately and publicly held clients in connection with a variety of business and transactional matters. A South Florida native, Kissner serves on the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County and is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association Transaction Law Committee, The Florida Bar Committee on Technology, the West Palm Beach Kiwanis Club and Florida State University Alumni Association. 

In addition to his experience with a variety of business transactions, securities offerings, commercial arrangements and intellectual property matters, he serves as outside general counsel to startups and emerging companies based in Florida and across the country. ?

In March, he presented a Continuing Legal Education seminar on legal and practical considerations in representing startups on behalf of the Palm Beach County Bar Association Transaction Law Committee. The course covered the life cycle of a technology startup and highlighted a number of key issues facing founders, including entity selection, governing documents, vesting schedules, protection and licensing of intellectual property, advisory boards and venture capital transactions.?
