Luis de la Aguilera

Luis de la Aguilera, President and Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Century Bank, was recently named to the Board of Directors of the Florida Bankers Association (FBA). Board members represent banks of all sizes and types—from small community banks to large national banks—that operate throughout the state. Each director is elected to a two-year term.

The transition to the new board will take place during FBA’s annual meeting, which will be held in June.

“The FBA Board of Directors plays a critical role in the operation of the association and in representing the association to elected officials, regulators and policymakers,” said FBA President and CEO Alex Sanchez. “We are honored to have such qualified and committed board members.”

The FBA Board of Directors is responsible for setting policy and overseeing the general operation of the Association. Bankers are nominated by their peers to serve on the board and are selected based upon their service to the FBA, community involvement and geographic region. Seats on the board are available in staggered terms.

“It is an honor to represent U.S. Century Bank and serve on the FBA board,” said Mr. de la Aguilera. “The work they do is vital to the banking industry, and I look forward to participating in this role.”

De la Aguilera started his banking career in 1982 at City National Bank of Miami. He later went on to serve as Vice President and Commercial Lender at Republic National Bank, and then as Senior Vice President of Corporate Banking and Assistant Branch Administrator at Ocean Bank where he directed and grew the bank’s branch network. From 2000-2015 de la Aguilera worked at TotalBank; throughout his 15-year tenure he served the bank in various capacities including Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Lending, as well as Director, President and CEO.

De la Aguilera earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981 from the University of Miami with a major in English literature, and minors in history and business administration.
