5/20/17

For over 40 years the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) has been one of the longest-standing, premiere networking groups in Broward and Palm Beach County. With thousands of members on a National level, the local chapter has carved out a niche for successful women in the community that are changing the rules and making millions.

This month NAWBO Fort Lauderdale & The Palm Beach County NAWBO Mentoring Group introduced Mentoring May, an event that promotes mentoring, relationship building and opportunities for like-minded women that are in the various stages of the entrepreneurial cycle. With over 15 vendors and 75 attendees this event will become a signature event for the organization for years to come. Mentors had a speed dating session with attendees that were seeking advice and direction on topics ranging from philanthropy to financing. Mary Wong, President of the Office Depot Foundation, Vivian Porcelli with Bank of America and Mary Adams, President of the The Employee Relations Group were just a few experts present during the event. It was a night full of connections, education and growth.

NAWBO’s mission is to propel women entrepreneurs into economic, social and political spheres of power worldwide by strengthening the wealth creating capacity of our members, economic development within the entrepreneurial community, innovative and effective change in the business culture and transforming public policy and influencing opinion makers. Today NAWBO employs a full-time advocate working the halls of DC, and has over 65,000 highly engaged members nationwide.

"This event would not have been possible without the support of the women business owners throughout Palm Beach and Broward County. This event is proof that when we work together, anything is possible," says Julia Aquino, President. Aquino, who is also a speaker, writer and community activist, in addition to her “day job” and work with NAWBO, is wrapping her 2- year term as President this month. “It’s time to pass the torch and continue to spread the mission of NAWBO.
