May is Miami Museum Month - Celebrate with MOCA!

May is Miami Museum Month so this is the perfect time of the year to discover Miami’s diverse cultural scene.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), North Miami is offering many different opportunities for guests to visit the museum throughout the month of May.

March 23 – May 21: Synergism: Ekaterina and Victor Khromin

  • With careers that began in Soviet Russia, Ekaterina and Victor (1948-2015) developed Synergism as a new art method through a combination of traditional art methods including drawing, sculpture, painting and collage. The exhibition will be on display through May 21, 2017.


Thursday, May 4, 7-9 p.m.: MOCA Shakers: Artist VIP Tour

  • In honor of its Russian exhibition, MOCA invites guests on May 4 from 7-9 p.m. to VECHERINKA, an exciting evening mixer featuring Russian delicacies, a vodka tasting and music. Guests can enjoy a conversational tour with exhibition artist Ekaterina Khromin of Synergism: Ekaterina and Victor Khromin. Admission is $10 per person; $5 for MOCA members and North Miami residents; Free for MOCA Shakers.


Saturday, May 6, 2-4 p.m.: Creative Arts 4 Kids

  • MOCA offers a monthly series of creative art classes for kids ages 6 through 12 known as Creative Arts 4 Kids, occurring the first Saturday of every month from 2-4 p.m. For May, the theme is Splashes and Drips inspired by Jackson Pollock. The activity for the children is large-scale floor painting.


Friday, May 26, 8 p.m.: Jazz at MOCA

  • The Haiti Jazz Roots Project, an electric blend of outstanding musicians performing jazz-infused folkloric Haitian music, will be performing on Friday, May 26 at 8 p.m. at MOCA’s free monthly outdoor concert.
