This year’s Education First Campaign raised more than $195,000 to support the Broward Education Foundation, a 501C3 dedicated to transforming the lives of Broward County Public School students through the support of quality education.

Broward County Public School employees donate to the Broward Education Foundation through the Education First Campaign, where 100 percent of the funds are matched dollar for dollar to support students and teachers in the areas of innovative teaching, scholarships and Tools for Schools Broward.

“The funds collected directly support Broward County Public School students as well as provide the tools teachers need for the classroom,” said Christina Fischer, Broward Education Foundation board chair. “Our vision is for all Broward County Public School students to achieve his or her highest potential and with this type of generosity and support, we can accomplish that. Because the funds are matched, we can have an even greater impact on our students and schools.”

More than 4,500 Broward County Public School employees donated to the Education First Campaign which raised $195,000, a 20 percent increase over the previous year.

Dr. Warren Brown, a teacher from Henry D. Perry Education Center in Miramar, received a three-year car lease generously donated by Toyota of Hollywood. Every employee who donated $5 or higher per pay check or made a minimum one-time donation of $100 was eligible to win the lease for a 2017 Camry SE.

“As a classroom teacher, I am constantly looking for classroom resources. Between the Teacher Resource Center and teacher grants, Broward Education Foundation has filled my classroom with supplies, technology and learning opportunities my students could not have experienced without this support,” said Jacob Aronin, coordinator of gifted services for Broward County Public Schools. “My Education First contribution helps Broward Education Foundation receive matching funds to make these programs possible.”

Funds raised by the Broward Education Foundation provide support for innovative teaching to increase student learning outcomes from Pre-K to grade 12; much needed supplies for low income students in classrooms; and scholarships for qualified graduating high school seniors.

Each year, the Foundation contributes more than $2.2 million to Broward County schools, serving as the catalyst for educational excellence.
