TSG Appoints Gonzalo Calderón Santos as Vice President of Investment Strategy

TSG – a boutique, diversified real estate investment company in South Florida – announced today that Gonzalo Calderón Santos has joined the firm as vice president of investment strategy. In this new role, he will focus on asset allocation strategies, researching venture and investment opportunities within the U.S. and Europe, as well as asset management of the firm’s investment portfolio.

Calderón Santos brings nearly a decade of international finance experience, having worked in North America, Europe and Latin America. TSG, which has successfully grown a portfolio of more than $400 million since its inception in 2008, will utilize his expertise to further support the firm’s strategic growth plan to present clients with optimal opportunities for investment.

Most recently, Calderón Santos built and managed the portfolio of Golden Aulaga, a Spain-based multi-family office. There, he focused on budgeting, project financing and business opportunity evaluations for clients like, Pedro Fernandez-Salvador, owner of Worldwide Payment Systems, which was acquired by Onyx, the world’s largest payment processor for hotels and travel distributors.

Calderón Santos’ experience also includes a 6-year tenure as a senior investment banker at Lener Corporate Finance in Spain, where he performed €4 billion in transactions for companies like, Pescanova, IDC Capio, Fergus Hotels and Petit Palace. He also advised institutional investment funds and top clientele on restructuring projects, executing acquisitions, joint ventures, buyouts and more. His knowledge, drawn from participating in large real estate and hospitality transactions in the U.S. and Europe, has allowed him to finesse critical skills and develop an expertise across a wide array of real estate asset classes.

Prior to his investment banking position, Calderón Santos served as a senior analyst for CBRE’s valuation advisory department. His industry experience also includes senior roles in corporate banking for several of Spain’s top financial institutions, such as Banco Popular, Banco Santander and Bankia.

Calderón Santos holds a bachelor’s degree in business and economics and a law degree from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas in Madrid, Spain. 

He is also actively involved in various other business ventures. Calderón Santos is a founder and board member of ALOJATIC, the first cloud technology-based platform in Spain that encourages business growth by connecting entrepreneurs with established industry professionals. He is additionally an investor in Le Guide Noir, a fashion rating startup that provides industry professionals with an in-depth analysis of the top fashion bloggers, as well as tips for up-and-coming bloggers to increase their audience engagement.
