ACCSC oversees college and university accreditation throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and abroad
Atlantis University, headquartered in Miami, Florida is pleased to announce its Executive Director, Carol Palacios, was elected to serve in the Board of Commissioners for the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) in Arlington, Virginia, for a three-year term starting July 2017.
ACCSC is an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education, responsible for assessing the quality of education offered by accredited academic institutions. Accreditation also serves an essential role in institutional and programmatic quality assurance as a critical component of the regulatory triad in partnership with federal and state governments responsible for the oversight of higher education organizations. ACCSC is committed to ensuring the integrity of educational programs as a means of serving public interest and accountability.
“I feel honored and humbled to be elected as commissioner for ACCSC, an organization designed to support and oversee higher education institutions with principles aligned to Atlantis University,” stated Palacios. “I am grateful to our students, faculty, staff, and academic management team who make this institution one that I’m proud to represent for its emphasis on quality education. These are the values which I will continue to uphold in my role as commissioner.”
This recognition couldn’t come at a more auspicious time given Atlantis University recently received its accreditation renewal for a period of five years, a true testament to the university’s commitment to innovation and maintenance of its quality accreditation standards.
Palacios has been involved in higher education in Florida and internationally serving in different capacities for the past 10 years. Under her leadership, Atlantis University has grown to include the Schools of Health, Business, Information Technology and Engineering. The university is also expanding to a new campus on the health district and has begun its process to seek regional accreditation.
