John Quick, Partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman Elected to Miami-Dade Parks Foundation Board of Directors

John Quick, partner at the law firm of Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, has been elected to the Miami-Dade Parks Foundation Board. The Foundation’s goal is to enhance the quality of life of Miami-Dade residents and visitors by securing dedicated funding to preserve and promote parks and parks programming throughout the county.

The Miami-Dade Parks Foundation was founded in 2004, after the founding members and recognized community leaders agreed that the needs faced by the Parks and Recreation Department were not fully covered through the County’s General Fund.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Quick will support the expansion of the department’s youth and senior programs, help build the Foundation’s capacity to provide financial sustainability and boost the Foundation’s visibility in Miami-Dade County.

Quick is a recent recipient of the Sun Sentinel’s Top Workplace Professional award and has a long list of leadership roles and community activities.   He is the immediate-Past Chair of the 11th Judicial Circuit Historical Society and served for many years as a Trustee for HistoryMiami. He was appointed Member of the Village of Palmetto Bay Charter Review Committee and served in the Vice Chair capacity.

In addition, he is the Past President of the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library System where he has been a long-time board member. As a result of his outstanding work, he received the Outstanding Member Award from the Florida Library Association, and President’s Community Service Award by the Miami-Dade League of Cities.

Quick focuses his practice on complex business, commercial, municipal/governmental, transportation, construction, aviation and real estate law before Federal and State courts, as well as mediation and arbitration. He also has an appellate practice which includes cases before the Florida Supreme Court, all of the Florida District Courts of Appeal, as well as many of the United States Circuit Courts of Appeals. He is experienced in handling international litigation, dealing with the laws of Germany, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Mexico, Cyprus, Italy and Norway, among others.

Quick earned a B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law.  He is admitted to The Florida Bar, the U.S. District Courts for the Middle, Southern and Northern Districts of Florida and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 1st, 5th, 9th and 11th Circuits.
