Miami-based Genovese Joblove & Battista, P.A. (GJB) is pleased to announce that attorneys Aaron S. Blynn and Michael A. Friedman have been named partners.

Blynn joined the firm in 2009 as an associate following graduation. He concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and franchise law. He also has experience in real estate litigation, employment litigation, false advertising litigation and intellectual property law, including trademark.

An integral member of the firm’s litigation team, Blynn’s efforts have been critical in several matters, such as obtaining a specific performance judgment following trial for a client buying a valuable piece of property in the Wynwood neighborhood; representing a leading supplier of generator equipment in an action adverse to the City of Miami Gardens, which resulted in a full recovery for the client; and representing major franchisors in a variety of disputes with franchisees.

An active member of the community with a particular emphasis on improving the lives of children, Blynn serves as a member of the Miami Children’s Hospital Young Ambassadors program and is involved with the United Way of Miami-Dade, where he serves as a Young Leader and a member of its Education I Impact Council.

Additionally, within the legal community, Blynn is a former vice-chair of the Ethics and Professionalism Committee, Young Lawyers Division, for the American Bar Association. He also serves on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee and is a member of the Dade County Bar Association.

Blynn earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was named the Ray H. Pearson fellow in the Center for Ethics and Public Service and received numerous honors from the school’s litigation skills program. He earned his bachelor of arts in political science, cum laude, from John Hopkins University where he now serves on the Alumni Admissions volunteer committee.

“Aaron is a force to be reckoned with,” said shareholder Michael D. Joblove. “His extraordinary persistence has played a key role in the success of many of the firm’s franchise and litigation matters. His community service and business development skills are also commendable.”

Michael A. Friedman joined the firm in 2011 as an associate. Prior, he served as a law clerk to U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Paul G. Hyman, former chief bankruptcy judge of the Southern District of Florida. Friedman concentrates his practice on bankruptcy and complex commercial litigation.

Friedman has been instrumental in the success of many of the firm’s high-profile cases, including assisting the court-appointed Receiver in Creative Capital Consortium  recover more than $13 million for victims of George Theodule’s $68 million Ponzi scheme; representing a Miami businessman in a bad faith involuntary bankruptcy petition filed by U.S. Bank, which resulted in multiple published opinions by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal in favor of the alleged debtor; and assisting a Chapter 7 Trustee in securing a $9 million settlement against Synovus Bank in connection to the bankruptcy estate of Frank M. Mongelluzzi, who perpetrated a massive check-kiting scheme.

Friedman is an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and a published author in the ABI Journal. He is also active in the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida, the Florida Bar Business Law Section, and a member of The Spellman-Hoeveler Inn of Court.

Friedman earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he was an executive board member of the Moot Court Team, a member of The Florida Law Review, and selected for membership in the Order of the Coif. He earned his bachelor of fine arts, summa cum laude, from the University of Florida.

“Mike’s work has been universally praised by those who have worked with him.  He has been a tremendous asset to our clients and our firm,” said shareholder John H. Genovese. “We are pleased to have both Aaron and Mike as partners.”
