Nationally recognized non-profit celebrates expansion on National Disability Awareness Day.

Clinics Can Help (CCH), the West Palm Beach based nonprofit helping all in Palm Beach County acquire access to improved healthcare through the provision of medical equipment and supplies, celebrated a grand milestone July 12th with the ground breaking of their new facility. West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio joined the official event which took place, fittingly, on National Disability Awareness Day.

The new 5,000 sq. ft. space, has offices as well as a larger warehouse which will help the organization meet the growing needs among children and adults across the county to access vital medical equipment. The excited crowd attending the event was thrilled to see the grassroots organization taking another step towards its future growth.

“We are so grateful for our supporters who helped us reach this milestone today,” said Owen O’Neill, founder and executive director of Clinics Can Help. “Clinics Can Help is oftentimes the only answer for families and individuals in need of wheelchairs, hospital beds and other vital, medical equipment. This larger facility will offer more space for inventory and services for our clients, and enable us to help meet the increasing demand from the new clients we receive every day.”

During the past decade, CCH has become locally and nationally recognized for its innovative programs such as the Lending Closet, which matches those in medical and financial need with the medical equipment and supplies to assist with their care and quality of life. Response has been overwhelming for CCH’s KINDER (Kids In Need of Durable Equipment Right now) Project, which seeks and provides special adaptive strollers, wheelchairs and other equipment for children with serious medical conditions. With CCH’s solid reputation, unique services and increased community support, the demand for its assistance has increased.

Clinics Can Help has served over 8,000 children and adults with the provision of more than $4 million worth of recycled medical equipment and supplies during CCH’s past eleven years. “We’re growing,” said O’Neill. “In 2015 with a staff of six and a budget of less than $450,000 a year we assisted over 1,900 people with over $821,000 worth of medical equipment.” In this new space O’Neill said he projects that CCH can help four times as many people annually.

Background on Clinics Can Help:

CCH is a vital resource in Palm Beach County and throughout southeast Florida for families in search of medical equipment such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, nebulizers and walkers. Access to this equipment is a critical part of acquiring quality health care for the thousands of children and adults who cannot afford it. They makes this difference through a simple process of organized recycling. It is the only organization of its kind in Florida and one of only four in the U.S. that provides a vast and diverse array of medical equipment.
