Courtney Cunningham, Esq. of Miami was recently named to the Council of Advisors for the Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida (UF). Mr. Cunningham served on the University of Florida Board Of Trustees from 2005-2010. As a Graham Center council member, Mr. Cunningham, will help assess the progress of the Graham Center in meeting its goals in addressing the needs of University of Florida students.
Cunningham has done other volunteer work in the state having served as a member of the Florida Elections Commission and the University of Florida Foundation Board. He currently serves on the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. A member of Florida Blue Key, Cunningham graduated from UF with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a received his Juris Doctorate from UF in 1986. He served in the administration of former President George H.W. Bush and was Deputy Chief Counsel at the Republican National Committee. He has been involved in South Florida politics for almost 25 years.
"I am honored to be able to help our next generation of leaders get the training, exposure and leadership required to effectively serve the citizens of our country and our state," said Cunningham.
The Bob Graham Center for Public Service is a community of students, scholars and citizens who share a commitment to training the next generation of public and private sector leaders for Florida, the United Statesand the international community. Bob Graham, former Governor and U.S. Senator, founded the Center as a means of going beyond the classroom and giving students insight into the nuts and bolts of political leadership.
Mr. Cunningham has been involved in public service and politics since he was a youngster. He grew up working in family political campaigns. Adds Cunningham, "I grew up around politics. It was part of the family ethos. I was lucky to get such great exposure at such a young age. It's impacted everything I've done professionally."
