DLA Piper Signs Long-Term Lease in Miami to Accommodate Growing Office and Expansion in Latin America

Miami - DLA Piper has signed a 15-year lease for more than 22,500 square feet of office space at its Miami office located in the Southeast Financial Center at 200 South Biscayne Boulevard.
With this lease, DLA Piper will occupy the 25th floor of the Southeast Financial Center, Florida's tallest office tower, with options to continue expanding onto additional contiguous floors in the future.
"This long-term agreement illustrates the importance of Miami and Latin America to DLA Piper's expanding global platform and it also reflects our commitment to continue aggressively expanding our presence on the ground in Miami," said Craig Rasile, managing partner of DLA Piper's Miami office. "This is a growing market for the firm, and we look forward to maximizing all of our available space at the Southeast Financial Center."
Since opening in March 2011, DLA Piper's Miami office has grown to 25 lawyers, becoming one of the firm's fastest-growing US offices. Earlier this month, leading health care partners Joshua Kaye and Michael Austin led a group of six lawyers to DLA Piper in Miami from McDermott, Will & Emery LLP.
This follows on the heels of a number of nationally and internationally recognized lawyers who joined DLA Piper's Miami office during the past 11 months: international arbitration partners Pedro J. Martinez-Fraga and C. Ryan Reetz from Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP; bankruptcy and restructuring partners Craig Rasile and Andrew Zaron, corporate partners Carlos Loumiet and John Haley, and tax partner Michael Silva from Hunton & Williams LLP; and corporate partner Jackie Hodes from McDermott, Will & Emery LLP.
DLA Piper also continues to strategically expand throughout Latin America. On February 15, the firm announced the opening of its Mexico City office with a 14-lawyer team from Thompson & Knight LLP, which represents a wide variety of public and private companies, as well as the Mexican Federal Government.
