MIAMI -- Animal drug developer Nuovo Biologics LLC completed an equity offering of $1 million.

According to the amended SEC filing, the company expanded the offering goal from $700,000. In January, citybizlist reported that Miami-based Nuovo Biologics raised $500,000 toward that target.

Named in the filing were CEO Jay Yourist and CFO Gregory A. Carney.

Previously, Yourist was a founder and CEO of CRP Network, LLC performing clinical research for the pharma industry. Before that, he served as the director of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Social Security Office of Disability Determination for the State of Florida. There he was also responsible to manage the state's head and spinal cord injury programs.

According to the company website, Chairman Don Denkhaus, CPA, has also invested in the company. Denkhaus is Chairman/Chief Financial Officer of TM Systems, LLC, a privately-held company that provides language dubbing and subtitling services primarily to the television industry. He is a board member of Eleven11 by Design, LLC, a privately-held company that sells action sports merchandise and provides event management. He spent more than 30 years at Arthur Andersen.

Nuovo's signature product is Panavira, a drug designed to treat viral related diseases in animals such as cats, dogs, birds and horses.

The company has set aside $120,000 from the offering proceeds to pay salaries of the named executive officers.
